A guernsey sweater made by TRICOTEUR from the 80s.
This is a classic sweater that was also used by the British Navy.
This knit was originally made for fishermen in the Guernsey Islands to wear, and is knitted very tightly, making it highly water resistant.
This means it is washable and can be washed completely.
The more you wash it, the denser the fabric becomes, allowing you to enjoy the aging process.
Since fishermen needed to change clothes and go out fishing before the sun rose, the design was such that they could be worn on either side so that they wouldn't get worn front or back.
Decorative braiding is applied around the shoulders and hem, a design that retains remnants of the time when each family used to have decorative braiding as their family crest.
This is a piece that is easy to coordinate with other items as an alternative to a sweatshirt.
