Yamaei Woolen Textile, a fabric manufacturer in Tsushima, southern Aichi Prefecture, has created a pants-only brand with a global perspective.
Bishu, Japan, is one of the three major woolen textile producing regions in the world, along with Huddersfield, England, and Biella, Italy. Tsushima City, Aichi Prefecture, is located at the southernmost tip of Bishu and is known as the birthplace of Japanese woolen textiles. Yamaei Woolen Weaving Machines (shokki) and craftsmen continue to play a nostalgic rhythm today. Yamaei Woolen Weaving Machines was founded in 1915 and wove the world's first "black formal wear". The fabrics we weave have been highly praised and loved both at home and abroad, including by fashion houses around the world. Careful manufacturing that has been cultivated in a world where plain fabrics are the winning combination. Our uncompromising attention to detail, from the selection of raw wool and yarn to the density of each individual thread, the expression of colors and patterns, the weaving structure and finishing, still lives on today.
